An article published in the journal Annales Botanici Fennici described a new species of flowering plant, Reseda minoica,the eastern Mediterranean, particularly of Crete (island of Gavdos, the southernmost island of Greece), Cyprus and southern Turkey.
In 2009 a group of scientists from the University of Bonn wanted to recreate the scent of Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut, 3500 years after his death. They investigated through computer tomography a bottle containing solidified perfume remains dating from the time of the pharaoh.
